Dear Parents

A warm welcome to this new school year and especially to those in our community joining with us  as Foundation Families of Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School.

My apologies as the earlier newsletter has been published in error and was still in draft form. PLEASE refer to this newsletter for updated school information. We are still “learning” the system!!!!

There is certainly great excitement as we approach the completion of Phase 1 of the building development and prepare for the opening of school on the 7th February. Much work has been accomplished over the summer break and we are very proud of the way the school and grounds are looking.

As staff, we hope to be located on the school site towards the end of this week and remain situated at the temporary school office in the meantime. Due to restrictions, as the school site is still under the care of the Construction Company, we are unable to have families or community view the school before we become operational.   This will certainly make our school gathering on the Monday 6th February 4:00pm even more of a highlight! Bishop Patrick Dunn will be with us for a special ceremony to bless the children and their families, staff and the buildings.

School Preparation and Organisation

On Tuesday 7th February, please walk through the gates near the Admin building and gather near the internal court area close to the children’s Learning Communities. You are very welcome to come into the Learning Communities. The children will be able to hang their bags up on the coat-hooks provided on the external walls. Please have children’s purchased stationery items named and ready to go. You will need to provide morning tea, lunch and a filled water bottle for your child. All personal belongings need to be named.

School Parking

The school parking area is still being developed. We hope to have it ready for the start of school. You will be able to enter using the entrance closest to the Hall and drive down to park in one of the available car parks. An alternative if you want to park and remain at school for the beginning of the day, would be to park in the side streets around the school and walk in with your child/children. The Bus Bay at the front of the school will be operational as a drop off, pick up area and you are welcome to use this entrance as long as you don’t remain parked there.

DAWN BLESSING

On Friday 20th January at 5:30am, the school staff and Establishment Board of Trustees members were joined by Kaumatua from the local maraes who led us in the most beautiful ceremony of blessing and gifting wairua/spirit to our school buildings. It was a very moving ceremony with chanting, Karakia/prayers, mihi/speeches and  waiata/songs as we joined together as one community acknowledging the establishment of a our new school community in the Takanini area. We are excited to establish connections with the local mana whenua/people of the Takanini area and look forward to nurturing a strong relationship in the year ahead.

Holy Trinity Prayer

May the blessing of the Holy Trinity be with us this year.

May God’s strength keep us secure.

May Christ our true Wisdom guide our learning.

May the Holy Spirit make us glad and good.

May the enfolding of the Trinity hold us and bring us to unity.

Amen.

With Blessings

Peta Lindstrom
