Dear Parents
This is an additional newsletter to our fortnightly one published last week, to bring you up to date with school events!
Staffing for Term 4
We congratulate Mrs Lainee Davies, teacher/kaitiaki in Learning Community Awa on her appointment to a permanent position with us. Lainee will continue to work in Learning Community Awa for Term 4.
We also congratulate Mrs Kirstie Thorpe, who joins us as a teacher/kaitiaki in Learning Community Whenua for Term 4. Kirstie will be part of the teaching team in Whenua on Wednesdays/Thursdays/Fridays.
Maria Speechlay, our Deputy Principal/Manutaki will also be part of the Whenua teaching team on Mondays and Tuesdays, working alongside Mrs Tanya Rowe, Ms Cheryl Schuster and Mrs Kirstie Thorpe.
We look forward to the teaching knowledge, expertise and experiences that both Lainee and Kirstie bring to our school learning community.
Remedial Cabling Project Update
The cabling work is progressing rapidly and work has been completed in Taamaua/Hall. From this weekend, remedial work will commence on the top floor of the teaching and learning block – Learning Community Areas for Moana (Years 4/5/6) and Maunga (currently used by sKids). It is likely that these areas will be out of commission for school use until the end of October. Therefore from the beginning of Term 4, Learning Community Moana will be relocated to Taamaua/Hall and work within this space.
Our sKids Before and After School Care programme will also operate from Taamaua/Hall and as a school, we will also continue to gather for weekly prayer and assemblies in Taamaua/Hall.
Summer Uniform Changeover
Students are expected to be in the correct school uniform from Tuesday 24th October. This includes the short sleeved blouse or shirt, open toed black school sandals and the school sunhat. Please name all items of clothing so that they can be returned to the children immediately when found.
Our School uniform is only available for purchase from NZ Uniforms on 28E Lambie Drive, Manukau.
All students are required to wear the correct school uniform for summer as listed below.

Community Meeting Term 4
An evening Community Meeting will be held Thursday 19th October 7:00pm in Taamaua/Hall, inviting parents/whanau/families to gather with us as we share updates about school policies and procedures, review our curriculum design and consult with our community on catholic special character, health programmes and cohort entry to school. Please do come along as your contributions are invaluable to the direction of our school.
Digital Reporting
This week, we published students’ learning from throughout the term on Linc-Ed. Your child will be able to share their Religious Education, Science, Technology and Physical Education learning with you. You will have been notified by email that there are learning updates that you can access through the Linc-Ed parent portal. The children are looking forward to sharing their term’s learning with families!
If you are unsure of how to access the LINC-ED parent portal, please call in to the school office for support with accessing the link and setting up of a password.
Learning Community Awa
Take time to come and see the fantastic technology designs that Awa students created as part of their “Respect – Manaakitia Caring for God’s Earth” learning concept. Their relocatable tyre gardens are in the bark area of the playground.
The children wanted to share their reflections with you … “We planted the seeds inside small boxes and watered them every day! Now they are very big!” shared Eli. …”We planted and painted tyres. I enjoyed it!” shared Emereziana … “We have seeds to grow plants and vegetables. They need sun, air, rain and soil to grow” shared Sione … “This term I learnt how to plant. The shoots grow upwards and the roots grow downwards!” shared Aeva.

Matt Maher Concert (source New Zealand Catholic Education Office)
Please find below the following link and information regarding the Matt Maher concert which is happening in Auckland this December. This concert is suitable for all ages and we’d encourage young people and/or their families to attend. This is a rare opportunity to hear Matt who is a big hitter in the global Christian music league and who has never been to New Zealand before. Matt will be joined by support acts such as Grace Worship and Monique Holden.

Internationally acclaimed Canadian Christian singer and song writer, Matt Maher will perform for what is expected to be a sell-out crowd at Auckland’s Victory Convention this December.
Matt Maher is an outspoken champion of unity and collaboration, with an unprecedented number of hits and performances to his name, including before a crowd of nearly 4 million, including Pope Francis, for World Youth Day 2013 in Rio, Brazil. Since launching his 2008 major label debut, Maher has become a staple in the artistic and song writing community.
The concert will have limited seating capacity with tickets on sale from 1 August 2017.
