We take time to praise and thank God for the wonderful gift of this growing school and faith community. DRS News

Pentecost

We celebrate Pentecost this coming Sunday and remember this day as the beginning of the Church. We remember the Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus’ disciples after Jesus ascended into heaven.  The word Pentecost is Greek and it means “50th day.” Fifty days after Easter Sunday.

Holy SpiritCongratulations to Annikah Iosefo-Schuster (Year 5) who received the sacrament of Confirmation last week at St Mark’s Parish, Pakuranga and to Xavier Folau (Year 5) who will be confirmed at St Mary’s Parish, Papakura in the coming fortnight. May the gift of the Holy Spirit strengthen you both and give you courage to become true followers of Christ.

Working Bee

imagesTo ensure our school is looking spic and span for the Official Opening, we will be holding a Working Bee on Monday 5th June from 3:00pm. We would love you to come along for an hour or so to help with cleaning of windows, verandahs, stairs and sweeping up of leaves and general tidiness. Please bring along any suitable equipment you may have to help us do a good job. A great way to build community – thank you!

This week, we have been learning about our samoan culture and language through the sharing from Mrs Speechlay, Mrs Silva, Ms Schuster and our samoan students. What a joy it was to see our kaitiaki/teachers, children and parents dressed in their puletasi and ie faitaga on Monday. Thank you for reminding us that it is important to keep our identity alive to thrive – Ma’au i lou ofaga. Maua’a lou fa’asinomaga.

We look forward to Jerremy joining the Senior Leadership Team and welcome the expert teaching knowledge, skills and experiences that he brings to our learning community.
